Public school districts request the Macomb Intermediate School District pursue a regional enhancement millage
District officials are exploring ways to come up with much needed funding for Macomb County schools. Currently, Michigan ranks 50th in education funding increases. The Macomb County Intermediate School District currently receives the lowest per pupil foundation allowance in the state of Michigan. And officials are fed up.
“This resolution really comes out of frustration with the state of Michigan…They have raided the school aid fund, they have given it to universities and colleges and then they expect us, year after year after year, to assemble together some kind of a program which meets our kids needs for jobs of the future. It just isn’t going to work,” Chippewa Valley Superintendent Ron Roberts said.
